Australian racing picks for Warwick Farm and Sunshine Coast

April 28th, 2020

We don’t have too long to wait between the conclusion of today’s U.S. races and the commencement of the Australian action tonight. The last at Fonner Park is at 8:09 p.m. ET, while the first at the Sunshine Coast kicks in at 9:58 p.m.

There’s a solid, nine-race card from the Sunshine Coast and a small, seven-race program from Warwick Farm for BetAmerica horseplayers to enjoy.

Here are a few picks to follow.

Sunshine Coast, Race 1: #2 Rollinwiththeflow

Rollinwiththeflow is a 2-year-old gelding from the Tom Button stable who has shown plenty of ability in his two runs. During his last start at Rockhampton just more than a week ago, he stalked the speed, then let down with a strong run to win by nearly three lengths. Jockey Brad Pengelly had him under a hold as he coasted to the line, which suggests he had plenty more to give.

An extra half-furlong tonight will suit him, and he is drawn to get another good, on-pace run.

If he’s anywhere near that 6-1 morning-line price, you are getting tremendous value. Expect him to start closer to 2-1 and be hard to beat.

Warwick Farm, Race 2: #6 Dis Dah Wun

This 3-year-old filly, from the powerful John Hawkes stable, did a ton of work in her debut run. She was caught three and four horses wide for a few furlongs, yet still managed to hang on for an encouraging third.

She’s had a little break , and in a recent trial, she was never let out of second gear and still managed to win by a length. She is destined to improve in her first race back, and with a good gate tonight, she should get the lead or a much more comfortable run and be tough to run down.

Warwick Farm, Race 1: #6 Britain

This is a value play for the night.

Britain is a nicely bred 2-year-old colt, from the Gregory Hickman stable, but there doesn’t look to be much going in his favor.

However, with blinkers on for the first time, he can show some promise and run better than his 40-1 morning-line odds suggest.

Tonight’s distance may be a little short for him, and he may also need some more time, but he’ll definitely be winning races soon and could spring a surprise at juicy odds.

Good luck!
