Jockeys

Irad Ortiz, as usual, tops the Belmont rider standings, with 34 wins in 136 starts (25%) and 81 in-the-money finishes (60%).

Unsurprisingly, his horses also get bet. The flat-bet ROI on Irad Ortiz is -16%, which means only an average of $1.68 return for every $2 win wager.

Jose Lezcano has been the price-play jockey to watch. Lezcano has nine wins from 82 starts (11%) this meet, with a +22% ($2.44) flat-bet ROI. Five of his nine winners have offered 8-1 or better. None have been the favorite.

On turf, Jose Ortiz has been very bettable. He is tied with his brother Irad for most turf wins, with 15 from 62 turf tries (24%). Yet, Jose Ortiz's flat-bet turf ROI this meet is positive, a healthy +19% ($2.38).

Trainers

Chad Brown and Christophe Clement enter Belmont week the joint win leaders at Belmont, with 17 each, six clear of both Mike Maker and Rob Atras.
