Daytona 550 Review

January 27th, 2016

The 2016 Daytona 550 National Chamediampionship race was run Saturday evening, January 23, in Daytona Beach, Florida and a hearty congratulations certainly goes out to NEED MY MONEYNOW who blazed his way to the title with a stirring stretch run which was just enough to catch the defending champion HUSKER MAGIC who had been the leader for most of the race.

These two incredibly talented greyhounds put on a show that will be remember for years to come as they battled paw to paw from start to finish. Southland's own FLYING FIRED UP was closing as well and finished a solid third with Pat C Short Cut completing the superfecta. Another Southland greyhound, Chasmo's Dutch, despite encountering trouble at the break as well as on the first turn managed to get a fifth place finish. Rounding out the field were Rockdown Star, Red Utopian and Seldom Todd. Results and prices are listed below.

A special thanks to United Greyhound Racing, especially Eric Koltz and Michael Frino for their vision and tireless efforts in bringing this together as well as the Daytona Beach Kennel Club and all others who have made this event possible.

I look forward to being in attendance for the 2017 National Championship and I hope that many of you who follow greyhound racing can make it there as well. Once again, congratulations to NEED MY MONEYNOW and all his connections on winning the 2016 National Championship.
