BetAmerica’s horse racing pick of the day: April 1, Will Rogers
Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Wednesday, April 1
Will Rogers Downs, Race 3: Allowance (6 furlongs, 3:15 p.m. ET)
#2 Rookie Season (8-5 on the morning line) is a head away from being undefeated in three starts at Will Rogers. Conditioned by ultra-hot trainer Scott Young, who is 10-for-25 (40%) at Will Rogers Downs this winter, Rookie Season recently returned from a layoff to crush a $15,000 claiming race over this track at distance, when he led all the way to score by 9 3/4 lengths in the fast time of 1:11.79.
From jockey to trainer, Scott Young shared his story with us.

Rookie Season’s runaway victory yielded an 88 Brisnet Speed rating, the best figure earned by any runner in Wednesday’s compact field, and it was a particularly noteworthy triumph, because the race was open to horses bred in any state. Rookie Season will be facing Oklahoma-breds this time around, and his frontrunning speed should be sufficient to dominate.
#5 Criminal (3-1), who has placed in stakes company at Remington Park, can round out the exacta.
$15 to win on #2 Rookie Season
$5 exacta: 2 with 5
Good luck!
