Looking for a live longshot to play Tuesday? Look no further than #1 Sugoi (8-1 on the morning line) in the feature race at Will Rogers Downs. Sugoi means “amazing” in Japanese, and we’ll hope this 3-year-old son of Karakontie amazes us with an upset victory.

Sugoi was impressive in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight over the Turfway Park Polytrack on March 12, when he rallied from mid-pack to swallow the leaders in the homestretch and win by 3 1/2 lengths.

This victory produced a competitive 86 Brisnet Speed rating, and while Sugoi is stretching out in distance and switching to dirt Tuesday, the fact he’s only run twice leaves plenty of room for improvement.

Trainer William Morey wins at a 24% rate with last-out maiden winners and with horses running long for the first time.
