Weekday picks and plays for thoroughbred racing.
Monday, April 20
Will Rogers Downs, Race 9: Cinema S. (1 mile, 6:15 p.m. ET)
#4 She’s All Wolfe (5-2 on the morning line) looks tough to beat in this test for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-old fillies. Trained by Donnie Von Hemel, the daughter of Magna Graduate is exiting a couple tough allowances race at Oaklawn Park.
Two starts back, she finished fourth in a large field behind Bonny South (future winner of the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks) and Shedaresthedevil (who returned to win the Grade 3 Honeybee).
Monday’s race is a much easier spot, and in terms of Brisnet Speed ratings, She’s All Wolfe is the fastest filly in the field. A quick half-mile workout April 8 signals her readiness to fire a big effort, and she’ll be guided by hot jockey Floyd Wethey, a 24% winner at Will Rogers.
Yesterday, Trainer/Jockey Combo Scott Young and Floyd Wethey, Jr. won 3 races at Will Rogers Downs!
