Thistledown, Race 7: Allowance (6 furlongs, 3:50 p.m. ET)

Ohio-bred sprint star #6 Dare Day (6-5 on the morning line) looks tough to beat. The frontrunning son of Can the Man has never been headed during the opening half-mile of a race, and he has won five times by blowout margins of 5 1/2 lengths or more.

Trained by Jeffrey Radosevich (Thistledown’s top trainer of 2019), Dare Day is 5-for-8 overall, and two of his defeats came when he faced graded stakes-caliber rivals in the 2019 Ohio Derby (G3) and Steel Valley Sprint S. Dare Day is 2-for-2 in 2020 and cruised to victory in a 5 1/2-furlong allowance June 22 at Thistledown, where he won for fun with a 97 Brisnet Speed rating.

With a trio of 97+ Brisnet Speed ratings, Dare Day is consistently the fastest horse in Tuesday’s field. Early speed types win 41% of 6-furlong sprints at Thistledown, so Dare Day has the right running style to excel.

With hot jockey Luis Rivera in the saddle, Dare Day figures to lead all the way and burn out pace rivals #1 He’s No Bull (6-1) and #3 Play Ball (3-1), which leaves #4 Cumber (4-1) to round out the exacta.

Good luck!
