BetAmerica’s horse racing pick of the day: March 30, Fonner Park
Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Monday, March 30
Fonner Park, Race 1: Maiden special weight (4 furlongs, 5 p.m. ET)
The experienced fillies and mares entered in this half-mile dash for Nebraska-breds don’t appear particularly tough, so why not take a chance with the first-time starter #6 Platte Girl (5-2 on the morning line)?
Conditioned by David Anderson, a 19% winner at Fonner Park, Platte Girl is a daughter of Cougar Cat (who sires 13% debut winners), out of the Salt Lake mare Mad Joey, who has produced two winners from two foals.
Platte Girl has shown promise in morning training. On March 13, she blazed a half-mile from the Fonner starting gate in a bullet :47 2/5, likely fast enough to win Monday’s modest test. Hot jockey Jake Olesiak has the mount, so let’s bet Platte Girl to win and play her on top of an exacta, with the speedy #5 Miss Blue Rooster (8-1) underneath.
$15 to win on #6 Platte Girl
$5 exacta: 6 with 5
Good luck!
As you get ready to play (or pray) at the races today, please remember that tomorrow there is a $167,743 Pick 5 Jackpot carryover at Fon (final five races). Plus the introduction of an Early Pick 5 (first five races). New first post is 4p CT @TVG @dinsdaleauto Bring On The Fon! pic.twitter.com/qPRUHvhHZZ
