Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Monday, May 18
Will Rogers Downs, Race 9: More Than Even S. (1 1/16 miles, 6:15 p.m. ET)
There are several stakes winners entered in this competitive test for Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares, and arguably the most intriguing is the lightly raced 3-year-old #2 She’s All Wolfe (12-1 on the morning line), who will face older rivals for the first time.
Though She’s All Wolfe is far from the field’s fastest filly on paper, the daughter of Magna Graduate might have some upside for trainer Donnie Von Hemel, who is 2-for-3 at Will Rogers this meet.
She’s All Wolfe knocked heads with some talented runners at Oaklawn Park this winter, most notably when she finished fourth in an allowance race, behind future graded stakes winners Bonny South and Shedaresthedevil.
A drop in class for the 1-mile Cinema S. on April 20 at Will Rogers proved to be the ticket to success for She’s All Wolfe, who rallied from behind a modest pace to win by three easy lengths.
A bullet workout on May 5 signals She’s All Wolfe’s readiness for another strong run, and facing 10 rivals Monday should ensure she receives a quicker pace to work with. At 12-1, we’ll take a chance betting She’s All Wolfe to win.
$20 to win on #2 She’s All Wolfe
Good luck!
