Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Tuesday, May 26
Assiniboia Downs, Race 1: Liz’s Pride S. (5 furlongs, 8:35 p.m. ET)
#2 Be Amazing (3-1 on the morning line) owns one of the highest Brisnet Speed ratings in this race for sophomore fillies. She posted a 78 when she cruised to victory by 8 1/4 lengths in her debut at Assiniboia last summer.
The daughter of Jack Milton subsequently faltered to fifth in the Debutante S. over the same distance as Tuesday’s test, but went to the sideline immediately afterward, which suggests a setback may have contributed to her no-show stakes debut.

In any case, Be Amazing appears primed for a sharper effort in her return from a long layoff. She has been transferred from the care of Murray Duncan to trainer Michael Nault, a high-percentage conditioner who wins at a 23% rate with horses returning from long layoffs.
Climbing aboard for the first time is jockey Antonio Whitehall, who has won more races at Assiniboia than any other rider over the last two years. A bullet half-mile workout May 13 further cements Be Amazing as a key contender.
Let’s bet Be Amazing to win and play her on top in the exacta. Underneath, we’ll use #1 That Luvin Feeling (6-1) and #6 Edge of Okotoks (4-1), who finished second and third in the Debutante last year.
$20 to win on #2 Be Amazing
$5 exacta: 2 with 1,6 ($10)
Good luck!
