Tampa Bay Downs, Race 9: Maiden special weight (1 mile, 5 p.m. ET)

Four runners appear a cut above the rest in this test for 3-year-old fillies — #2 Pure Rhythm (5-2 on the morning line) and #3 Dark Lightning (5-1) from the high-percentage barn of trainer Michael Stidham; #6 Ever Smart (3-1), who will transition to turf, following a runner-up effort on the Tampa main track last month; and #9 Completed (4-1), a first-time starter trained by Jonathan Thomas, who is winning with 33% of his starters at Tampa Bay Downs this meet.

Of the quartet, my slight preference is for Completed, a $750,000 yearling purchase set to debut with hot jockey Daniel Centeno in the saddle. Thomas and Centeno have gone 8-for-16 (50%) together over the last two months, and Completed brings a long, steady work tab to the mix.
