Betting with, and against, Arrest Me Red in the Jaipur Stakes

A talented field of 13 will dash six panels on the Belmont Park outer lawn in Saturday’s $400,000 Jaipur S. (G1). The deep cast features numerous legitimate contenders in a race that could produce a blanket finish under the wire.

The Wesley Ward-trained #5 Arrest Me Red (5-2) is the morning-line choice in the field, and deservedly so, as he sports a six-for-seven mark in his career when sprinting on the lawn. By Pioneerof the Nile, the bay was a measured 1 3/4-length winner of the Turf Sprint S. (G2) at Churchill Downs in his latest offering, and he is a stakes winner from his sole Belmont appearance.

Arrest Me Red could move forward once again while making his third start of the season, and the four-year-old also possesses good early speed in a field without an abundance of pace. Irad Ortiz retains the mount and will have him forwardly placed from the start.

#8 Scuttlebuzz (6-1) is four-for-five since the addition of blinkers and rates a big chance for conditioner Rudy Rodriguez. The gray son of The Factor dons a powerful late kick which was on display during his Elusive Quality S. triumph on the course last time out. The Empire State-bred will improve in his second run off the layoff on Saturday, and I expect the five-year-old to be moving best of all late with Javier Castellano riding.

The hard-knocking #3 True Valour (12-1) has upset appeal for Graham Motion. The speedy sort has a lot of class, and he could sit an advantageous trip with a clean break from the gate beneath Feargal Lynch.

#4 Casa Creed (9-2) is a must use for conditioner Bill Mott. The Jimmy Creed six-year-old was a two-length winner of the event in 2021, and the well-traveled six-year-old gave a fine account of himself with a pair of big runs against top competition in the desert this campaign. The bay will be motoring home from off the early pace if he’s ready under Luis Saez.
