Betting with, and against, Bell's the One in the Dream Supreme Stakes

November 12th, 2021

An excellent field of seven fillies and mares will contest the $300,000 Dream Supreme S. at Churchill Downs on Saturday. The six-furlong dash is led by Grade 1 vixen #6 Bell’s the One (7-5), who has run some of the best races of her career beneath the Twin Spires for conditioner Neil Pessin.

The five-year-old daughter of Majesticperfection has been in very good form as of late while recording first or second-place finishes in her last four tilts, two of which came on this strip. Third in the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Keeneland, the Kentucky-bred mare bypassed this year’s edition to point for the Dream Supreme, and her best showing will make her tough to hold off in the stretch on Saturday.

Bell’s the One sports a 7-3-3-0 lifetime line in Louisville, and she is also a stellar six-for-seven at the six-furlong trip. The bay shows three promising local drills in advance of the heat and will have regular pilot Corey Lanerie in the silks once again.

#5 Club Car (4-1) is a three-time winner over the famed oval, and she comes in off a huge runner-up performance in the Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G2) at Keeneland. Trained by Ben Colebrook, the Malibu Moon five-year-old earned the best Brisnet Speed figure of her lifetime with the hood on most recently, and she looks like very good value in the field to me. Joel Rosario picks up the mount atop the five-year-old stalker.

The Greg Foley-conditioned #4 Sconsin (9-5) held off the favorite in her latest endeavor when eclipsing the Open Mind S. on the surface. By Include, the consistently good four-year-old shows a sharp 7-4-2-0 local mark, and the filly has been very good in her last four assignments. Tyler Gaffalione will guide the win threat.

#2 Elle Z (8-1) has appeal as the likely one to catch in the cast for trainer Chris Hartman. The speedy chestnut is 3-4-4 lifetime on the dirt, which includes a stakes win at Churchill Downs two races prior. The City Zip filly faces a tall task in a high-quality field, but she can surely hang on for a piece if she breaks best from the gate.
