Betting With, and Against, Noted in the Pulpit Stakes

December 7th, 2023

A total of 11 juveniles will run 7 1/2 furlongs on the Gulfstream Park turf in Saturday’s $100,000 Pulpit S. The finale on an 11-race card is led by the Todd Pletcher-trained #8 Noted (9-5). The Cairo Prince colt has finished first or second in each of his trio of lifetime runs on the green, led by a nose defeat in the Bourbon S. (G2) at Keeneland two back.

Noted – With

Noted – Against

  • $.50-cent trifecta 2,4,5 with 2,4,5,8 with all ($40.50)
  • $10 win and place #5 Palm Tree ($20)

Noted was a non-factor on the dirt in the recent Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Santa Anita, but the $200,000 yearling purchase is better on the green and seems poised to give a good account of himself in his local debut in this spot. The February foal has the early ability to stay in touch on the back side, as well as the turn of foot to pass horses in the lane, too. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will guide the Kentucky-bred.

Godolphin homebred #5 Palm Tree (3-1) had traffic late in the Bourbon S. but still fell short by just 2 1/4 lengths for conditioner Brendan Walsh. The recently gelded son of Street Boss graduated in smart fashion two races prior at Kentucky Downs when topping a nice prospect, and the chestnut might have the best chance to knock off the favorite with clear sailing on Saturday. Luis Saez will be in the stirrups.

#4 Reminder (12-1) has four turf-winning siblings including a pair of stakes heroines, and the bay is very intriguing in his first appearance on the sod in here. The $185,000 two-year-old purchase comes off a decent third in the Armed Force S. on the synthetic and could be any kind on the surface switch with Edgard Zayas in the controls.

#2 Liam’s Journey (9-2) was a good third in the Pilgrim S. (G2) at Aqueduct in his most recent showing and will attempt to break his maiden in the stakes ranks for Mike Maker. The gray son of Liam’s Map will improve in his second run going a route of ground, and the colt wouldn’t be a big surprise with John Velazquez in the silks.
