Betting With, and Against, Rattle N Roll in the Pimlico Special
A well-matched field of eight will run 1 3/16 miles on the Pimlico main course in Friday’s historic $250,000 Pimlico Special S. (G3). Kenny McPeek’s multiple graded stakes winner #2 Rattle N Roll (9-5) is the morning-line choice in the field and will be a major factor with his top performance.
Rattle N Roll – With

- $2 trifecta: 5 with 2,8 with all ($24)
The talented son of Connect picked up a trio of stakes tallies as a three-year-old and has run well in each of his pair of tries this campaign. This Kentucky-bred chestnut finished a solid fourth in the New Orleans Classic S. (G2) at Fair Grounds behind a runaway winner to commence his four-year-old season, which preceded a fine tally in the Ben Ali S. (G3) at Keeneland in his latest venture. The stout late runner is proven at the distance and could surely move forward while making his third run off the long absence too. Flavien Prat inherits the mount.
#5 Law Professor (5-2) is a Grade 2 winner who comes off of a visually impressive romp in the Excelsior S. at Aqueduct last time out. The Rob Atras trainee, who missed by a length when second in the Woodward S. (G1) in October, has a lot of quality to him as well as early speed, so he figures to get first run on the favorite at the top of the lane on Friday. The five-year-old son of Constitution shows a handful of morning drills in anticipation of the contest and will keep Manny Franco in the irons.
I really like the chances of #8 Keystone Field (10-1) to run a good one at a number. The former claimer from the Mike Maker shedrow has thrown in some clunkers in recent times, but his best performances are impressive and he will benefit from drawing outside of the other pace in the field. This dark bay son of Candy Ride has performed well in his pair of 1 1/8-mile tries dating back to last season which indicates that he might be up to the task of this trip on Friday. The gelding will track the action while always in the clear beneath Tyler Gaffalione.
