Breeders' Cup Juvenile Horse Profile: Get Her Number
Gary Barber’s Get Her Number earned an automatic berth to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) on Nov. 6 with a three-parts of a length triumph in the $301,000 American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita. The bay endured 1 1/16 miles on the fast main strip in 1:44.92 with Flavien Prat in the stirrups.
Get Her Number was unveiled on Aug. 14 in a 5-furlong dash on the turf at Del Mar and came away a half-length winner on debut. The Peter Miller pupil made his next appearance at the same venue on the green in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf S. and was in the lead to late stretch before finishing a close fourth, being defeated by just one length under the wire. He aced his first try on the dirt in the American Pharoah, and his lifetime line now reads 3-2-0-0, $219,000.
The son of Dialed In was bred in the Bluegrass State by Phil Robertson and Brenda Robertson, and the colt was purchased for a bargain $45,000 at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. He is the first black-type victor produced from the winning Bernstein mare Fancier.
Get Her Number posted a lifetime-best 90 Brisnet Speed figure when making his dirt bow at The Great Race Place, and he has obvious room for improvement being lightly raced at this stage of his development. The winner has the pedigree to prosper at middle distances, and if he improves off his showing at Santa Anita, then the April foal could be dangerous at a price when traveling to Keeneland for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.
