The History of the Princess Rooney Stakes

The Princess Rooney Stakes is a Grade II Thoroughbred horse race run annually at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida. Named for the Hall of Fame Filly Princess Rooney, the race was inaugurated in 1985 and is a featured race in the Breeders' Cup Challenge series. As a "Win and You're In" race, the winners gain an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.
