Saturday marks the biggest day of the Prairie Meadows meeting, with three graded races offered on the nine-race evening card, and Brisnet.com is tabbing Golden Lad (#4 in Race 7) as the most likely winner on the program.
Listed at an enticing 9-2 on the morning line, Golden Lad will enter the $300,000 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap in career-best form, registering a field-best 107 BRIS Speed rating for a sharp five-length victory in the $200,000 Mountainview Handicap at Penn National on May 30.
The 28-day turnaround is encouraging for the lightly-raced 5yo, who invades the Altoona, Iowa track for leading trainer Todd Pletcher, and top jockey Javier Castellano elected to travel for the mount.
Trainer/jockey stats in the Brisnet.com Ultimate PPs, the industry’s best source of past performance data, indicate Pletcher and Castellano combine to win at an eye-catching 45% rate.
Golden Lad holds a significant edge over his 10 opponents in several key categories: his 151.9 BRIS Prime Power number towers over the nearest rival (6.5-point advantage) and Golden Lad ranks first in BRIS Current Class (122.3) and Speed Last Race (107) by a wide margin as well.
Track Bias Stats show horses with speed, either “”E” or “E/P” types, are preferred in dirt routes at Prairie Meadows and Golden Lad registered 102 E1 and 109 E2 BRIS Early Pace ratings last time, winning the Mountainview on the front end.
He won’t be facing any quality speed and Golden Lad figures to enjoy another favorable trip, racing on or very close to the lead from the start.
We’re looking forward to playing Golden Lad in the Cornhusker, which is scheduled to run at 10:25 (ET).
