Taylor Made has reportedly purchased the minority share in 2014 Horse of the Year California Chrome previously owned by the colt's co-breeder Steve Coburn.
Trainer Art Sherman told Daily Racing Form on Wednesday that California Chrome would be shipped to Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky this week to recuperate from a bruised cannon bone.
The injury was discovered last weekend after the colt's arrival at Arlington Park from England, where California Chrome missed an intended start in the Princes of Wales's S. (G1) at Royal Ascot last month due to a bruised foot.
Last seen finishing second in the Dubai World Cup (G1) in March, California Chrome will require three months rest in order for the cannon bone to heal. He will not race again this year, and whether to retire him to stud or bring him back to race again in 2016 has not been decided.
“The prognosis (for recovery) is good and there’s a chance he could run again next year,” Sherman said Wednesday morning on the Del Mar backstretch.
