Candy Ride Sires Another Grade 1 Winner
Candy Ride sired another Grade 1 victor after Game Winner took the 2018 Del Mar Futurity. The former Pacific Classic winner trained by Ronald McAnally has become one of the top sires in the United States.
Lane's End's stud fee for Candy Ride is only $80,000. Based on how his kids have performed the past couple of years, that stud fee could rocket past $100,000. Check out Candy Ride's Top 5 Grade 1 winners so far.
He won those 5 Grade 1 races over 4 different tracks: Churchill Downs, Saratoga, Del Mar, and Gulfstream. Nobody touched Gun Runner in either the Breeders' Cup Classic or the Pegasus World Cup.
On Dec. 3, 2015, an attack of colic claimed the champ. Mike Smith said it best, "Here's a horse that only got beat twice and he probably shouldn't have. I don't think we got the chance to see the best of him."
Twirling Candy's already sired his own Grade 1 winner. Finley'sluckycharm won the Grade 1 Madison Stakes in April this year.
Brown could point her towards either the Filly & Mare Sprint or the Breeders' Cup Distaff. If she goes in the Distaff, she'll have an underdogs' shot to upset Elate and Abel Tasman. She might go off the favorite in the Filly & Mare Sprint.
Game Winner easily raced up to pace setter Rowayton. Then, when jockey Mario Guiterrez asked him to accelerate, Game Winner exploded past both Rowayton and Baffert trained chalk Roadster. Game Winner has way more potential than Sidney's Candy had. He could turn into yet another Bob Baffert Triple Crown contender if he stays healthy and builds off the Del Mar Futurity win.

Candy Ride's Top 5 Grade 1 Winners
1. Gun Runner
I can't write anything about Gun Runner that someone already hasn't written. He's one of the top racehorses in the past 20 years. He might be one of the greatest racehorses ever after winning 5 Grade 1 races in 2017.He won those 5 Grade 1 races over 4 different tracks: Churchill Downs, Saratoga, Del Mar, and Gulfstream. Nobody touched Gun Runner in either the Breeders' Cup Classic or the Pegasus World Cup.
2. Shared Belief
Gelding Shared Belief won 10 of 12 races for over $2.9 million. Although he had no shot to win the 2014 Breeders' Cup Classic after Bayern knocked him hard right out of the gate, Shared Belief came back as a 4-year-old to win the Grade 1 Malibu, the Grade 2 San Antonio Invitational Stakes, and the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. On Dec. 3, 2015, an attack of colic claimed the champ. Mike Smith said it best, "Here's a horse that only got beat twice and he probably shouldn't have. I don't think we got the chance to see the best of him."
3. Twirling Candy
Twirling Candy won 7 of 11 starts. He finished second once and third once. He beat Smiling Tiger, Alcindor, and Noble's Promise in the 2010 Grade 1 Malibu. He almost won another Grade 1 in 2010 after finishing second to Acclamation in the Pacific Classic. Game On Dude finished fourth in the 2010 Pacific Classic, which tells us the field had quality.Twirling Candy's already sired his own Grade 1 winner. Finley'sluckycharm won the Grade 1 Madison Stakes in April this year.
4. Separationofpowers
Separationofpowers dominated all her rivals except Mia Mischief in the Grade 1 Test Stakes. At one point, it appeared Mia Mischief might hold of the Chad Brown trained filly, but late in the stretch, she glided past her rival.Brown could point her towards either the Filly & Mare Sprint or the Breeders' Cup Distaff. If she goes in the Distaff, she'll have an underdogs' shot to upset Elate and Abel Tasman. She might go off the favorite in the Filly & Mare Sprint.
5. Game Winner
I had Sidney's Candy here. After all, Sidney's Candy won the 2010 Santa Anita Derby, but Game Winner impressed me so much winning the Del Mar Futurity that I had to put him on the list. I believe Baffert's got a true Kentucky Derby contender.Game Winner easily raced up to pace setter Rowayton.
