Carryovers: Aqueduct's $69,914 Pick 6, $26,786 Pick 5 at Fair Grounds
Handicapper J. Keeler Johnson shares horses to single in a trio of Saturday Pick 5 and Pick 6 carryovers at Aqueduct and Fair Grounds.
Aqueduct, Race 4: $69,914 Pick 6 carryover (1:48 p.m. ET)
The Saturday card at Aqueduct is highlighted by a $69,914 carryover in the $1 Pick 6.
The feature event in the six-race sequence is Race 6, the $100,000 Busanda S. for three-year-old fillies racing 1 1/8 miles on dirt. This Road to the Kentucky Oaks qualifier has drawn only five entries, and #2 Shimmering Allure (4-5) is shaping up as a viable single.
Shimmering Allure ran strongly in the 1 1/8-mile Demoiselle (G2) at Aqueduct last month. After rating in fifth position over a muddy track that strongly favored speed, Shimmering Allure rallied to finish second behind gate-to-wire winner Life Talk, who had previously hit the board in the Frizette (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
#3 Life Talk gets her first graded stakes victory in the G2 Demoiselle S. at Aqueduct for trainer Todd Pletcher with @iradortiz aboard! 🏆

Prior to the Demoiselle, Shimmering Allure had rallied to victory in the one-mile Tempted S. at Aqueduct. Assuming she encounters a fair track in the Busanda, dropping in class should be sufficient to send Shimmering Allure to the winner’s circle at a short price.
Fair Grounds, Race 4: $4,911 Pick 6 carryover (3:45 p.m. ET)
Fair Grounds, Race 5: $26,786 Pick 5 carryover (4:15 p.m. ET)
The final two races on Friday at Fair Grounds were won by horses starting at odds of 21-1 and 28-1, triggering carryovers of $26,786 in the 50-cent Late Pick 5 and $4,911 in the $1 Pick 6.
Both wagers involve Race 6, a $50,000 allowance optional claimer for older horses racing 1 1/16 miles on dirt. Morning line favorite #7 Highland Falls (7-5) looks like the horse to beat in this eight-horse field.
A son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin out of Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Round Pond, Highland Falls has gone 2-for-3 in Kentucky while earning sharp Brisnet Speed ratings. He was especially strong in his most recent race, rallying from midfield to take a 1 1/16-mile allowance at Churchill Downs by two lengths.
That victory yielded a 96 Brisnet Speed rating, one of the highest numbers belonging to any horse in Saturday’s field. Highland Falls is progressing in the right direction for hot trainer Brad Cox (a 30% winner at Fair Grounds this meet) and he’ll be ridden by jockey Florent Geroux, a 38% winner teaming up with Cox over the last two months.
In short, what’s not to like? Highland Falls looks like a possible stakes horse in the making, and we’re willing to single him in the Pick 5 and Pick 6.
Good luck!
