Check out these rich carryovers at Gulfstream, Woodbine, and Arlington
If you enjoy chasing carryovers, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from on Saturday.
Harness racing fans will be glad to hear the $300,257 Jackpot Hi-5 at Woodbine Mohawk Park is slated for a mandatory dispersal as part of the North America Cup card. The 20-cent wager (which is expected to draw a final pool in excess of $1 million) is available for betting on the finale of the 13-race card; for spot plays throughout the evening, check out Frank Cotolo’s analysis of the action.
The final race tomorrow (Race 13) will feature a mandatory payout for the Jackpot Hi-5. The carryover entering the mandatory payout is $300,257.16. @PepsiCanada #NACup https://t.co/KaxRZgdO16

Also on the Saturday slate is a $57,136 Pick 8 carryover at Arlington Park. The 20-cent wager has gone unclaimed for eight consecutive racing days, so if you can assemble a winning ticket on Saturday, you’re bound to be rewarded with a lucrative payoff.

But the largest carryover on the table for Saturday is the $588,560 Rainbow Pick 6 jackpot at Gulfstream Park. The 20-cent bet is scheduled for a mandatory dispersal, so we’ve taken a race-by-race look at the sequence and assembled a play on a $32 budget:
Race 7: Maiden Special Weight (one mile on turf)
#8 Free Data (3-1) has tactical speed and hit the board in her first three starts, showing consistency across a variety of distances and surfaces. She’s a logical contender for hot trainer Tom Proctor, though we’ll also use #1 Maria’s Revenge (9-2), who rallied to finish third over this course, distance, and class level last month.
Race 8: $12,500 Claiming (7 1/2 furlongs on turf)
#11 Diligent (9-5) and #7 Tone Feelin (2-1) are the two fastest entrants in terms of Brisnet Speed ratings, but Diligent is marooned on the also-eligible list and Tone Feelin has done his best running on dirt. If Diligent is allowed to start, we’ll feel better about our chances of winning. But regardless, we’ll use #1 Spend Benjamins (4-1), #2 Poco Charlie (15-1), and #3 Call Bros (5-2) as backup.
Race 9: Maiden Special Weight (six furlongs)
#1 Spuntacular (6-5) showed speed when finishing second and third in his first two starts over this track and class level, so he’ll be tough to deny while sticking to the same conditions on Saturday. But don’t count out the debuting #4 R Big G (7-2), whose trainer—Georgina Baxter—wins at a 25% rate with first-time starters.
Race 10: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming (five furlongs on turf)
We’ll take a shot singling #1 Captain Ron (9-5), who won over this course, distance, and class level on April 30. The son of Speightstown showed excellent speed pressing blazing fractions of :20.98 and :43.17, and while he hasn’t run since, trainer Rohan Crichton strikes at an excellent 27% rate with horses returning from layoffs of 90 days or more.
Race 11: Sheer Drama S. (seven furlongs)
#5 Sound Machine (5-2) exits a game third-place finish in the Princess Rooney S. (G2) over this track and distance, where she was beaten just 3 1/4 lengths by multiple Grade 1 winner Ce Ce. She’d previously dominated the Musical Romance S. against fellow Florida-breds at Gulfstream and looks tough to beat while dropping back down into the state-bred ranks.
If there’s an upset candidate, it’s probably #2 Sonar (7-2), an inconsistent but talented filly who defeated Sound Machine in a Gulfstream allowance during the winter.
Race 12: $20,000 Claiming (7 1/2 furlongs on turf)
There are plenty of logical contenders in the finale, but so long as we spread deep with #2 Famous Gent (10-1), #3 Montana Man (7-2), #5 Mr. Axel (4-1), and #9 Catching Fish (3-1), we should be able to survive.
20-cent Rainbow Pick 6: 1,8 with 1,2,3,7,11 with 1,4 with 1 with 2,5 with 2,3,5,9 ($32)
Good luck!
