Closing Day picks for Arlington
Arlington's summer meet closes on Saturday, September 25. The final day features a nine-race card, including three pools with carryovers and mandatory payouts.
Multi-race players have two carryovers to play for:
Pick 7
The $0.20 Pick 7, which covers races 1 through 7, has a $4,851 carryover into closing day. That sequence starts with a classy non-conditioned allowance sprint for older fillies and mares. Though #6 Wildwood's Beauty comes out of the toughest races, she tries polytrack for the first time and shortens up from her ideal seven-furlong trip. #5 Puntsville (9-2 morning line) can pull the minor upset: she fires well fresh, loves the surface, and gets a nice draw outside of O'Keeffe.
Pick 6
The Pick 6 covering races 3 through 8, which also has a $0.20 minimum, features a $4,851 carryover into closing day. A price to consider for this sequence, as well as the Pick 7, comes in the fifth race with #1 Talking Zip, who is 10-1 on the morning line. A seven-furlong specialist in a race with no one else who has proven they like the trip, he has the speed to flash from the rail and the stamina to outstay the pure, conventional sprinters
Super High Five
For those who like playing single-race exotics, there's a $91,356 carryover in the $0.20 Super High Five. The meet finale is a challenging one: a maiden special weight turf dash for juvenile fillies that drew a full field of twelve.
Off a solid debut at Ellis #11 Music City Star looks a deserving favorite. However, it won't be easy from that outside post. For a price, give a long look to #8 She's My Ride, 10-1 on the morning line. This half-sister to multiple juvenile stakes winner Blazinbeauty is working regularly for trainer Ingrid Mason. Mason, in partnership with jockey Charles Roberts, has hit the board with both her juvenile first-time starters this meet. Though he is a seven-pound apprentice, Roberts has been holding his own with the journeymen this meet, so there is plenty of reason to home in on She's My Ride as the way to make that high-five ticket pay.
