Daisycutter H. exotics plays for Del Mar July 29
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) winner Twilight Gleaming will return to Del Mar to compete among a field of seven in the $100,000 Daisycutter H. on Friday, July 29.
Below we give you our full field analysis and best exotics plays for Race 6 on Del Mar's Friday card, including exacta, trifecta, and superfecta tickets for the five-furlong turf race for fillies and mares.
#1 Royal Address (3-1): The four-year-old comes off a two-month layoff after finishing third in the Mizdirection S. at Santa Anita in May. High-percentage jockey Joe Bravo (24% winner this meet) will retain the mount for the Neil Drysdale pupil, who will cut back in distance after sprinting 6 1/2 furlongs in her last four. The rail post produces winners at a 22% clip.
#2 Xmas Surprise (15-1): The longshot came home fourth behind race rivals She's So Nice and Havana Love, who both re-oppose here, in a six-furlong optional claimer last out at Santa Anita. Jessica Pyfer (3 1-1-0 this meet) will jump back in the irons and won with Xmas Surprise two back in a six-furlong optional claimer, but the four-year-old's speed figures are a bit low compared to other runners in the field.
#3 Sadie Bluegrass (15-1): The five-year-old mare will move up in class for trainer Jonathan Wong in her first start in nearly three months. The Bluegrass Cat daughter posted an 81 Brisnet Speed figure in a win at today's distance in her most recent outing, a $12,500 starter allowance at Golden Gate.
#4 She’s So Nice (8-1): One of two for trainer Phil D'Amato, She's So Nice moves up in class after winning a six-furlong optional claimer, in which she posted a 90 BRIS figure, at Santa Anita in late May. Umberto Rispoli will pick up the mount since regular rider Ricardo Gonzalez is in the stirrups for stablemate Leggs Galore.
#5 Leggs Galore (8-5): The morning line favorite out of D'Amato's barn, Leggs Galore will return to a sprint after coming home last of five in the one-mile Just a Game (G1), won by top older female Regal Glory. The Buena Vista S. (G2) champ will drop in class in her cut back to five furlongs, a distance from which she is 3-for-3 lifetime. Leggs Galore is 3-for-4 in 2022 and 2-for-3 for her career at Del Mar.
#6 Havana Love (12-1): Trained by Doug O'Neill, who is 16 4-2-1 to start the meet, Havana Love has one second and a third since joining O'Neill's stable but has the early speed to improve at the shorter distance. The four-year-old finished 1 1/2 lengths behind She's So Nice two back in a six-furlong sprint. She'll get a rider switch with Diego Herrera and adds blinkers for the first time.
#7 Twilight Gleaming (9-5): The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner comes in fresh off a narrow victory in the Mamzelle Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 18. The Irish-bred three-year-old will compete with Leggs Galore to set the pace in this race and gets a rider switch to Juan Hernandez, a 22% winner this meet and a 24% winner with pacesetters. Trainer Wesley Ward is a 28% winner in non-graded stakes and a 22% winner with horses that won their last race, giving Twilight Gleaming a good chance to return to the winner's circle in her second career start at Del Mar.
