Ed DeRosa's Keeneland opening day ABC grid

October 3rd, 2014

Opening day is finally here, and the new dirt, sloppy track, and competitive racing should make for some great wagering opportunities.

As discussed on Steve Byk’s “At the Races,” my best bet of the day is #6 Naval Command in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes (race 9). She ships in for cagey Kaplan, who certainly had lucrative prizes to shoot for in the filly’s native Florida, and she fits with these nicely at 15-to-1.

She is not a lone “A”, however, as I like Work All Week enough in the Phoenix that I will lean on him and want some additional looks in the other races. If Naval Command is 15-to-1 then I will press as needed in the win pool and certainly play her across in a big field at that price.
