Eligible Pacers And Trotters From Multi-Divisions Fire For Season’s Late And Lucrative Purses

With the Breeders Crown elims looming boldly, some eligible colts and fillies battle for big money in state-bred finals this weekend, which is important for their connections as they consider dropping into the box next week for “Crown” competition.

As the Breeders Crown Countdown blog posts its last pre-elim-and-finals edition, we offer the events where an eligible races in local-lucrative-champion finals from Hoosier Park and Yonkers Raceway.

HOOSIER PARK

Hoosier Park features on Oct. 12 include a pair of Madison Country series divisions for frosh-filly trotters and Circle City series divisions for soph-filly trotters.

One of the Madison County divisions we will cover here the $73,000 event. Five of the 11 charging here have Crown possibilities—Win Treasures, Passionate Miss, Diamond Starlight, Dechanel, Baby Wants and Msnaughtyashill.

With the most to gain of the Crown hopefuls is Win Treasures. He has made a lot more than the others, though his sire, Winning Mister, is nowhere on the top-20 lists of productive sires in his division.

There are two Muscle Hill fillies here that are represented by that top sire—Passionate Miss and Msnaughtyashill. However, the latter has not even broken her maiden yet with 10 tries behind her.

Dechanel represents another top sire, Yankee Glide, and this one deserves as much attention as Passionate Miss.

Local bettors may embrace Win Treasures, leaving marked overlays for the two gals with the best breeding, so watch the board for those two.

The $68,000 Circuit City for soph-filly trotters at Hoosier features three Crown-eligible gals—Cantabmymoney, Blinded By Lindy and Crann Tara.

Non-eligible Rose Run Sydney, the top moneymaker on the Indiana circuit, should be the public choice here but Cantabmymoney has the most to gain and is a definite contender. The Cantab Hall filly likes to win and this is where that factor will do her most good and could send her to the elims on this track.

Also apt to be involved is Crann Tara, Linda Toscano’s lucrative Donato Hanover filly, who may be among this group primarily to pick up last-minute cash to get Crown-worthy.

YONKERS RACEWAY

Among the slew of stakes on Yonkers’ Oct. 14 program are the $225,000 New York Sires Stakes finals where five Crown-eligible horses will have the definite edge in cash-rewarding accomplishments in two of the Crown’s coveted divisions—soph-colt pacing and trotting.

The state-bred finale for glamour-boy pacers goes eight across the gate with three eligible to Crown action—Outkast Blue Chip, Chip Walther and Pointomygranson.

The latter may not be a common character in this division’s stakes but his sire, American Ideal, has been a powerhouse of profit for his three-year-olds, coming in far above the sires of the other two. But Pointomygranson is branded with the curse of Yonkers, the 8 hole, and appears to have strong rivals among the non-eligibles that will strongly challenge him for a win.

Outkast Blue Chip may be the most likely of the trio to sensationalize on the purse with a great ride and may be a decent price considering the popularity of Funknwaffles, the top earner of the season in this field.

The glamour-boy trotters have only two Crown-possible contenders, both by Archangel—Guardian Angel AS and Top Flight Angel.

They are also the best earners in the eight going for the Empire State crown. We are well acquainted with Guardian Angel AS from his Hambletonian escapade with What The Hill in this year’s August classic.

Top Flight Angel was a horse to watch on our list twice before he won a stakes and made what’s left of harness headlines. His 7-hold launch in this will not help his odds as it will for “Guardian,” so he would be the bet of the two. It’s not like bettors will ignore him but a few locals will be piling up support in the pools so he should be worth it more than them.
