Race 2
#6 Hitch (5-1)
After knocking on the door against legitimate competition at both Keeneland and Churchill this sophomore son of Tapit broke through with a maiden breaker last time out under the Twin Spires. With a perfect, pressing trip through moderate splits over the one turn mile, he did enjoy the run of the race, but he also defeated quality foes in the process. He posted a useful five furlong breeze between starts and finds a very average field in front of him.
Potential gimmick key and single in multi-race wagers.
Race 4
#2 Irish Mischief
A consistent performer throughout her young career, she ran the best race of her life last time out. Pressing into a fast pace while tugging three-wide, she drew even with the pacesetter on the turn, but simply could not get past that talented foe. She posted a trio of useful works between starts and might be stakes caliber.
Potential gimmick key and single in multi-race wagers.
Race 8
#4 Mr Ashley (5-2)
Ran huge races to be second behind sharp winners in consecutive starts early in the spring meet at Churchill, and has major excuses for his last two runs. Two back he was all but eliminated at the start and last time out he was hung four than five-wide while stalking a hot pace. Chances are he'll fly under the radar here.
Win, place and show ladder at odds of 5-1 or higher. Exacta box and key with 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Race 9
#1 Call to Victory (5-1)
A good second behind her talented stablemate Choate Bridge, a race in which she galloped out best, two starts back, this sophomore daughter of Jimmy Creed was completely eliminated on the first turn of her most recent run. She ran into major trouble, was checked back hard and failed to threaten thereafter. There are a few other talented turfers entered here, but this gal drew the rail and I truly think she has a bright future.
Win & triple place wager at 2-1 or higher, gimmick key and potential single in multi-race wagers.
