An overflow field of 14 fillies and mares are entered to travel 6 1/2 panels on the Tapeta at Turfway in an optional claiming contest on Saturday. This seems like an ideal spot to spread with multiple runners in a competitive affair.

The Brendan Walsh-trained #6 Storm Miami has faced black-type competition in three of her last four races and will make her local debut in this one. The four-year-old daughter of Blue Point was a solid fourth in the Bessarabian S. (G3) on the all-weather at Woodbine in her latest appearance and will be a major presence with anything resembling that showing on this day. The Irish-bred four-year-old did post some works at this venue in the summer and fall, which will be a benefit to her, and the bay is a must-use with Gerardo Corrales in the silks.
#8 Dot might be a bit of a stretch due to her current form, but the Jordan Blair trainee wouldn’t be a big surprise to me to hit the board at a healthy number. This Munnings chestnut has placed in two of her three lifetime races on the synthetic, led by a fine runner-up result behind the excellent Twirling Queen 13 months ago. The Kentucky-bred filly comes in fresh for a good layoff conditioner and is worth a flyer with Fernando de la Cruz taking the reins.
#3 Purr Factor has really come into her own at the current meeting for trainer Ethan West and will be a dangerous commodity if she takes command early on. The four-year-old daughter of The Factor was clear in third while facing mostly similar types last time out and is well drawn to get into contention from the break in this spot. Luan Machado has the call.
Maccabee Farm homebred #10 Lady Go Go was a smart maiden vixen on the oval in her latest endeavor and is a nice fit with possible improvement for trainer Thomas Drury. This Maclean’s Music four-year-old has good early speed, she likes the surface, and the filly also goes for a conditioner who is winning at a high percentage at the current meeting, as well. I envision the bay to be prompting the pace from the outset beneath Irving Moncada.
