Exotics Wagers for the 2024 Wintergreen Stakes
A total of nine fillies and mares will travel one mile on the all-weather strip at Turfway Park in Saturday’s $125,000 Wintergreen S. Conditioner Brad Cox has a formidable pair of contenders in the affair and I feel that both will show up and be major forces in the heat.
Wintergreen Exotics
- $20 exacta 7 with 6 ($20)
- $10 exacta box 6-7 ($20)
- $1 trifecta 7 with 3,6 with all ($16)
- 30-cent superfecta 3,6,7 with 3,6,7 with 3,6,7 with all ($12.60)
#7 Chop Chop has put in two very good performances since arriving for the meeting and gets top billing. By City of Light, the four-year-old has back class to her and has really hit her stride at Turfway this winter, too. The Kentucky bred decimated an allowance field here two back with ease while earning a solid Brisnet Speed figure, and she returned to finish a clear second behind the talented Botanical in her most recent appearance.
The $230,000 purchase has the gate presence to stay in touch with the group early on, and I expect her to run her foes down inside the final furlong with Luan Machado in the silks.
#4 Flashy Gem (1/1) cruises home an easy winner of R6 from @TurfwayPark to break the maiden with @ChrisLanderos01 up for @Bradcoxracing.

#6 Flashy Gem dons a 3-2-1-0 mark on the surface, led by a second in the Bourbonette Oaks last campaign. The Bolt d’Oro filly looked real good in a dominant allowance coup at this venue in her most recent outing, and the Spendthrift color bearer posted a pair of swift half-mile morning drills in advance of her first try since December, as well. Axel Concepcion will pilot the pacey sort and have her fairly close from the opening bell.
Potential pacesetter #3 Icicles led throughout when bagging the Likely Exchange S. last time out and will likely try to do the same to this cast on Saturday. Conditioned by John Ennis, who is having a fine local meeting, the daughter of Frosted has finished first or second in each of her four assignments since having blinkers removed, and she will be ready as she comes in with a trio of solid works in advance of the contest. She will be difficult to pass late if Adam Beschizza can nurse her along through slow early fractions.
