Fierceness installed at 8-1 for Pool 3 of Kentucky Derby Future Wager

Pool 3 of the 2024 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) will be offered this weekend, beginning at noon ET on Friday. Wagering closes Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. Pool 3 features $2 win and exacta wagering.

The field of 40 is headed by #15 Fierceness, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and presumptive division champion. Fierceness, who is expected to make his season debut in the Feb. 3 Holy Bull (G3) at Gulfstream Park, is the 8-1 favorite among the individual entries.

The mutual field, consisting of "All Other 3-Year-Olds" that are not listed among the 39 individual entries, was installed at 7-5 on the morning line.

The lone Derby prep this week is the Lecomte (G3) at Fair Grounds on Saturday. Lecomte entrants offered in Pool 3 include #14 Ethan Energy, #21 Lat Long, #25 Nash, and #38 Track Phantom.

There are three more KDFW pools scheduled in advance of the 2024 Kentucky Derby: Feb. 16-18 (Pool 4); March 15-17 (Pool 5); and April 4-6 (Pool 6). The lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager will coincide with KDFW Pool 5.

Horses currently under the care of trainers suspended from competing in the 2024 Kentucky Derby are included within the pari-mutuel field.

There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week's three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.
