Fish Whistler's Win Hints At Quality Rail

The first dirt race of Preakness day was a 1 1/16-mile starter handicap, and Fish Whistler went about gate-to-wire in winning the race, but not without some drama as Photogenic ranged up on the outside and actually headed the eventual winner, but Fish Whistler dug in on the rail and came back to win going away by open lengths.
Jockey Trevor McCarthy, who will ride Bodhisattva in the Preakness, is celebrating his 21st birthday today. He said the plan was to put Fish Whistler on the lead in this race because he gives up when behind horses. The wagering public must have been wise because Fish Whistler was bet down to 19-to-5 off an 8-to-1 morning line.
If Fish Whistler gives up when passed but came back on the rail in this race, then the inside might be the place to be today, which is good news for American Pharoah supporters such as myself
