Forte leads way in KDFW Pool 6

The final pool of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW), Pool 6 will open its three-day run on Thursday and closes at 6 p.m. (ET) Saturday, prior to the runnings of the Florida Derby (G1) and Arkansas Derby (G1). A total of 40 wagering interests are offered in the future wager, including 39 individual horses and a 40th option for “All Other 3-Year-Olds.”
Forte has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite by oddsmaker Mike Battaglia. After concluding 2022 with three consecutive Grade 1 wins, including the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Forte opened his three-year-old season with a convincing win in the Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream Park. His final Kentucky Derby prep will come in Saturday’s $1 million Florida Derby.
Overall, there are 14 new interests in Pool 6 from Pool 5: Arctic Arrogance, Bourbon Bash, Continuar, Derma Sotogake, Dreamlike, Dubyuhnell, Fort Bragg, Hayes Strike, I Don’t Get It, Jace’s Road, Mendelssohns March, Shadow Dragon, Slip Mahoney, and Wild On Ice.
There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week’s three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.
