Friday Spot Plays at Saratoga

The spotlight falls upon New York-bred horses Friday at Saratoga as all 11 races are restricted include six stakes. Here are some horses of interest:

Race 7

Cairo Prince is off to a fast start at stud with seven two-year-old winners from his first crop and #6 Time Warp (5-1) exits a sharp maiden score over the track at seven furlongs. After missing the break and never firing in her debut, the gray filly overcame another rough start with a powerful finish, drawing off to a near five-length decision. Kenny McPeek is four-for-15 (27% win) this meet and has a promising miss in Time Warp. I’ll play her right back.

Race 10, West Point Stakes

#1 Morrison (12-1) exits a sharp score over the course and elders and was flattered when the runner-up, Leaveematthegate, came right back to win his next outing. A three-year-old son of The Factor, the gray colt is moving in the right direction for Joe Sharp and most of his main rivals today don’t appear to be in top form. Speed played well Thursday on the firm turf and I will tab the front-running Morrison right back for a repeat performance.

Race 11

#2 Wild William (4-1) finished third in a key race at Belmont two back but disappointed when fourth at this level at the Spa. However, that was a speed-laden field last time and circumstances should favor the Freud colt today. With no little-to-no speed entered, Wild William won’t face appears capable of dictating the action with his early foot. Speed stole the finale at 12-1 yesterday from post 2 and I’ll look for a similar trip here.
