Frost King Stakes headed by Be Vewy Vewy Quiet

November 17th, 2017

The previous stakes experience of Be Vewy Vewy Quiet suggests he will be very tough to beat in the seven-furlong Frost King Stakes at Woodbine Nov. 18.

Be Vewy Vewy Quiet (Silent Name) has been very competitive in each of his four starts to date, all at Woodbine. A maiden winner in July, he stepped up to stakes company in the Clarendon Stakes Aug. 5, winning by 2 ¼ lengths.

He then finished close to the winner when third in the Colin Stakes, and yielded late to Latonka in the Bull Page Stakes Oct. 9. He steps up to seven furlongs for the first time.

Smooth Talk (Court Vision) is expected to be well-fancied. Third on debut in July, he returned to Woodbine last month to take a six-furlong maiden special weight contest by four lengths.

Silent Sting (Silent Name) has the advantage of coming into the race with experience at seven furlongs. He ran out a decisive 4 ¼-length winner in a maiden special weight at Woodbine Oct. 7. Beer Pressure (Silent Name), runner-up that day, returns to have another go.

Inge (Victor’s Cry) and Royal Laser (Giant Gizmo), who finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Bull Page Stakes, will try their luck against Be Vewy Vewy Quiet again. Both also have maiden wins to their credit.

Sheriff Clarke (Milwaukee Brew), third in the Ascot Graduation Stakes at Hastings, heads east for the race. Last-start Woodbine maiden winners Cat’s Whisper (Silent Name), Handsome Like Me (Giant Gizmo), and Josie’s Riddle (Giant Gizmo) complete the field.
