Golden Gate: How to bet the $2,560 Super High 5 carryover
If you’re still excited from Saturday’s action-packed slate of Kentucky Derby prep races, perhaps you’d like to try your luck at winning a share of Sunday’s $2,560 Super High 5 carryover at Golden Gate Fields.
The $1 wager is offered on any race featuring seven or more starters. Since the first four races on Sunday have drawn small fields, the carryover is on the table in Race 5, a $5,000 maiden claimer for fillies and mares sprinting five furlongs on Tapeta. With seven entries in the mix, there are only 2,520 possible Super High 5 outcomes, a manageable number.
We recommend keying #7 Stanford Miss (5-1) on top at a nice price. The four-year-old filly has only run twice, finishing second in her debut over this track, distance, and class level before stepping up to run second in an $8,000 claimer sprinting six furlongs at Golden Gate.
Those efforts produced Brisnet Speed ratings of 76 and 69, two of the better numbers in Sunday’s field. Stanford Miss was claimed out of her latest run by trainer Jack Steiner, a 42% winner with horses dropping in class following a claim. That’s a powerful win percentage suggesting Stanford Miss will fire a winning shot in her return to the $5,000 level.

#6 Snip (9-5) is another logical contender. Two recent runs at Golden Gate have produced a pacesetting fifth-place finish in a $25,000 maiden claimer and a tracking eighth in a $12,500 maiden claimer. The four-year-old filly has tactical speed and should be tough up front while dropping to the $5,000 level.
#4 Cat Bandit (3-1) can’t be dismissed either. After running poorly in three starts on dirt in Southern California, Cat Bandit switched to Tapeta for an $8,000 maiden claimer at Golden Gate and ran second. Hot trainer Steven Miyadi wins at a 22% rate in maiden claimers, so a top-five finish is well within reach for Cat Bandit.
Here’s how we’ll bet the Super High 5:
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 6 with 4 with ALL with ALL ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 6 with ALL with 4 with ALL ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 6 with ALL with ALL with 4 ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with ALL with 6 with 4 with ALL ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with ALL with 6 with ALL with 4 ($12)
Total: $60
Good luck!
