Golden Gate: How to bet the $4,614 Super High 5 carryover
Who’s ready to have some fun at Golden Gate Fields? The Sunday card brings a $4,614 Super High 5 carryover to the table.
The first opportunity to play the rolling $1 wager (and thus chase the carryover) comes in Race 1, an $8,000 claimer for fillies and mares. The distance is six furlongs on Tapeta, and with seven entries, there are only 2,520 possible Super High 5 outcomes to consider.
The morning line favorite is #1 Miracle in Motion (7-5), and for obvious reasons. She won twice at Golden Gate Fields during the spring, employing pace-pressing tactics to nab a $25,000 maiden claimer and a $12,500 claimer. More recently, Miracle in Motion ran second in a 5 1/2-furlong dash over Sunday’s class level, beaten only three-quarters of a length.
Miracle in Motion owns the two highest Brisnet Speed ratings in Sunday’s field and has enough speed to work out a favorable trip from the rail draw. Throw in the fact she’ll be ridden by hot jockey Assael Espinoza (7-for-18, 39% at Golden Gate so far this year), and Miracle in Motion is an appealing filly to play on top.
While horses are the most important factor in handicapping any race, many bettors look toward jockey statistics to strengthen their opinions and separate top contenders.@J_Keelerman helps you understand rider stats 👇 https://t.co/asGyQ1e0YO

Underneath, we have to respect #4 Magical Lady (9-5), a stretch runner entering off back-to-back victories in $4,000 and $5,000 claimers at Golden Gate Fields. But if we like Magical Lady, we have to respect #3 Miss Arrowhead (12-1), who finished second by only half a length against Magical Lady last time out. Nor can we ignore #6 All (4-1), who defeated Miss Arrowhead by two lengths in a $5,000 claimer at Golden Gate in November.
#5 Bold Daughter (6-1) has won two straight races at Golden Gate, including a recent $6,250 claimer sprinting six furlongs in which she rallied after a slow start to edge #2 Runaway Princess (20-1) by a neck. But Bold Daughter’s Brisnet Speed ratings are lower than those belonging to the favorites, so we’ll lean toward including her (and Runaway Princess) toward the bottom of our tickets.
#7 Gardees World (20-1), winner of a $5,000 claimer at Golden Gate during the summer, completes the field and is worth using in bottom slots.
Here’s how we’ll bet the Super High 5:
- $1 Super High 5: 1 with 4,6 with 3,4,6 with 3,4,6 with 2,5,7 ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 1 with 4,6 with 3,4,6 with 2,5,7 with 3,4,6 ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 1 with 4,6 with 3,4,6 with 2,5,7 with 2,5,7 ($24)
Total: $48
Good luck!
