Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 9/4/14

September 4th, 2014

By MoneyMaker Mike

Race 3 - Grade M - 583 yards - I'm going with the (2) Trackinfo Now as the key here as I believe she gets the early lead and hangs on to get the win. She schooled well and has two solid finishes in her first two official races. With a good rush to the turn which she seems to have, she should find mid-track running room where she likes to be. The (6) CBJ Reagan will provide strong competition as even though he has encountered much trouble of late, he is capable of making a strong late move down the stretch to catch the leaders. Completing the play, I'll use the (8) PJ Blowingurmind because of his good effort last time out when he had the lead at the top of the stretch only to be caught and end up a close third. He does show closing ability in a couple of his other starts. Also worth a place on the ticket is the (7) Arkans Jayce who shows nice schooling lines and with a good rush could be in good position to challenge the leaders.

Pick 2-6-8-7

Race 5 - Grade M - 583 yards - The key here is the (5) PJ Gotochurch who is coming off an impressive six length schooling win and I believe she hits the lid and never looks back in this one. She has four seconds and a third in ten starts so the consistency is there and I believe she gets a win here. The (7) Dutch Molly shows both early speed and closing ability and did finish second last time out so with her wide running style I can't overlook her in this one. The (8) Atascocita Duff is well posted for his wide running nature and the (2) Fiesta Brillo likes it inside and may be vying for the early lead so in case that happens I'll use him for tri and superfecta plays.

Pick 5-7-8-2

Race 9 - Grade AA - 583 yards - Here we have the impressive young greyhound (7) Counselor who is 7 out of 7 in his young career including five straight wins which in less than a month took him from Maiden grade to Grade AA. His future is bright indeed at Southland, he's fast, talented and smart and the one to beat here. Both the (2) Mega Werewolf and the (5) Sword And Bow will provide tough competition as each has good early speed and will battle early for the lead. To complete the ticket, I'll also use the (1) Magic Garrett who could benefit from any trouble from the leaders as he can come from behind.

Pick 7-2-5-1

The Moneymaker play of the evening is in the 12th race, a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (5) CBJ Laura B who is a mid track runner and won a maiden race by five lengths in a box to wire run. She has had trouble as of late but with a good break she is certainly capable of another big run here. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
