Gulfstream Park: How to bet the $8,684 Super High 5 carryover
The Sunday card at Gulfstream Park kicks off with an $8,684 Super High 5 carryover up for grabs in Race 1 (post time 12:25 p.m. ET).
Winning a share of the $1 wager appears relatively straightforward by the standards of the Super High 5. Race 1 is a $25,000 maiden claimer for fillies and mares sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta, and while those conditions might sound tricky, the form lines aren’t overly befuddling to analyze. Even better, the race has drawn only eight entries, which equates to a very manageable 6,720 possible outcomes.

Great question!
Let’s ask @J_Keelerman 🤔https://t.co/XRF6fUwRAj
We’ll start our ticket construction by keying #1 Bullet On Tap (2-1) on top. The three-year-old filly hasn’t missed the trifecta in her last three starts sprinting over the Gulfstream Tapeta. After running second in a $25,000 maiden claimer, Bullet On Tap finished third twice at the $35,000 level.
Bullet On Tap was claimed out of her latest run by high-percentage trainer Rohan Crichton, a 24% winner this meet and a 27% winner with new claiming acquisitions. Throw in the fact the rail post produces a solid 14% winners in 5 1/2-furlong Tapeta sprints at Gulfstream, and Bullet On Tap looms as a deserving favorite.
Underneath, we have to respect the chances of #7 Cupid Austin (5-2). She wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth by 2 1/2 lengths in a $40,000 maiden optional claimer over this track and distance last time out, which followed a couple of on-the-board efforts in $25,000 maiden claimers. Her consistent finishes and competitive Brisnet Speed ratings suggest a top-three finish is well within reach.
#2 Candy Mom (15-1) failed to factor when finishing seventh in her debut over this track, distance, and class level on June 3, but hot trainer Jose D’Angelo wins at a 23% rate with second-time starters, suggesting Candy Mom can move forward on Sunday.

#3 Marthamaywhovier (12-1), fourth in a maiden special weight over the Gulfstream Park dirt last fall, is eligible to factor while dropping in class for her 2022 debut. #4 Breehazel (5-1) is likewise dropping in class and retaining apprentice jockey Ailsa Morrison, who rides with a seven-pound weight allowance.
The unraced #5 Yeloma (4-1) has put together a decent work tab for trainer Ronald Spatz, who wins at a 14% rate with first-time starters. And we can’t ignore #8 Ave Fenix (12-1), who finished fourth over this track and class level one month ago.
Here’s how we’ll bet the Super High 5:
- $1 Super High 5: 1 with 7 with 2,3,4,5,8 with 2,3,4,5,8 with 2,3,4,5,8 ($60)
Good luck!
