Gulfstream Park: How to bet the Rainbow 6 mandatory payout

June 12th, 2020

Picks and plays for the mandatory payout of Saturday’s Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot pool at Gulfstream Park:

Race 7: Maiden special weight (1 mile on turf, 3:14 p.m. ET)

#12 Leading West (2-1) has hit the board three times over this distance while competing on sloppy dirt, firm turf, and good turf, and with rain in the forecast for Saturday, Leading West figures to suit any conditions for hot trainer Mike Maker.

The only concern is the wide draw, so as backup we’ll include the improving #6 Imperial Moment (4-1) and also #3 Constitutional Pal (3-1), who makes his second start off a layoff (a 24% move for trainer Jane Cibelli) after finishing sixth over this class, course, and distance on May 2.

Race 8: $12,500 claiming (6 furlongs, 3:46 p.m. ET)

Twice stakes-placed as a juvenile, #8 Man With a Plan (2-1) threw down an excellent 88 Brisnet Speed rating when wiring an $8,000 claiming race over this track and distance on May 24. Previously trained by Todd Pletcher, Man With a Plan was claimed out of that victory by hot trainer Jose D’Angelo, who strikes at a fantastic 39% rate with new claiming acquisitions. Victory should be in the offing.

Race 9: $12,500 claiming (1 mile on turf, 4:18 p.m. ET)

There are plenty of viable contenders in this competitive heat, and there’s no telling how rain might affect the turf course. We’ll spread deep with #4 Donji (7-2), #6 Hot and Heavy (8-1), #7 Cowboy Culture (6-1), #9 Grand Nenuco (4-1), #10 Morning Stride (5-2), all proven performers against this level of competition or higher.

Race 10: $10,000 claiming (6 furlongs, 4:50 p.m. ET)

#2 Neverstopdreaming (7-2) and #7 Flawless Moon (5-2) are stepping down the class ladder after finishing on the board multiple times against tougher company, stamping them as the runners to beat. But they could potentially face a challenge from #8 Reservenotattained (6-1), who switches back to dirt and adds blinkers in his second start off a 21-month layoff for high-percentage trainer Michael Yates.

Race 11: Coaltown Handicap (1 mile, 5:22 p.m. ET)

Gulfstream specialists #4 Diamond Oops (8-5) and #8 Noble Drama (9-2) both love the local strip and have proven effective over a mile against graded stakes-caliber opposition. But the speedy Mexican super filly #3 Letruska (5-1) has won two of her three U.S. starts in front-running fashion and might prove tough to run down on the front end.

Race 12: $8,000 claiming (1 mile, 5:54 p.m. ET)

The consistent #1 Just Kidding (9-5) won a pair of allowance races over this track and distance last summer and consistently brings competitive Brisnet Speed ratings to the equation. New trainer Saffie Joseph strikes at a 35% rate with recent claims, making Just Kidding a logical single while dropping down the class ladder.

Race 7, 20-cent Rainbow Pick 6: 3,6,12 with 8 with 4,6,7,9,10 with 2,7,8 with 3,4,8 with 1 ($27)

Good luck!
