MOHAWK MILES

Each week we highlight probable long shots from Mohawk Park in this features section. If they do not win at first crack we add them to the H2W the following week as a bet-back, adding new possibilities to this Mohawk Miles section.

Race 3 — #1 Kaboom NL (7-2): Galloped while well supported, gains here.
Race 5 — #6 Day At The Gym (7-2): qualified, won, prepped well for ’23 start.
Race 6 — #1 Chedda Chedda (8-1): sharp off win into series.
Race 11 — #7 Cutting Class (12-1): Rested from scratches and fog, ready to pound.

FEATURES

Rosecroft, Race 10

An even trip by #1 La Savane (9-2) at 14-1 in a conditioned event last week impressed backers and makes him a contender this week. Stepping up a level and assigned the rail spot are good signs of confidence by trainer Howard Birney.
A solid competitor, #4 Seize Control (8-1), ships from Dover and a marvelous performance finishing third at 59-1. The two should offer a hefty exacta and strong across-the-board displays.

FEATURES

Freehold, Race 5

#4 Candell (5-2) is from the productive barn of Edwin Quevedo, whose stock shuffles from Freehold to Meadowlands and cashes many checks. This one was third to a dueling pair and best of the rest at 19-1. A better start puts him on the toteboard.
#5 Salvadors Sun (15-1) threatens to play a strong role, having raced well here at 31-1.

Saturday, January 28

POWER PLAYS

Meadowlands, Race 6

We offer four strong contenders for single- and multi-race exotics; a quartet aimed to boost payoffs (in post position order).
#1 Southwind Sandor picked up live cover and finished third behind a dueling pair only ticks away.
#2 A Rocknroll Star won at Philly with a perfect trip on the last day of 2022.
#5 Chaser Hanover left hard but dueled and gave up the lead and held steady for a good finish at 14-1.
#7 Water Sports Teen is a beaten favorite. He raced among the best sophs at three and looks to have matured at four.
