MOHAWK MILES

Each week we highlight probable long shots from Mohawk Park in this features section. If they do not win at first crack we add them to the H2W the following week as a bet-back, adding new possibilities to this Mohawk Miles section.

Race 1 — #7 Larry Is Debs Rock (8-1): Good finishing third, bet back.
Race 7 — #8 Reys N A Rocket (5-1): Bet-back beaten favorite.
Race 8 — #2 Its A Long Story (10-1): Crowded at the wire, bet-back.

POWER PLAYS

The Meadows, Race 7

Beaten favorite #1 Green Magic (4-1) avoided a breaker then pushed too hard as the favorite last week; by the stretch he was galloping. The sloppy mile leaves room for some mis-calculated odds as the betting public punishes bad behavior. We will give a pass to the jumping ponies and go with #3 Battle King (6-1), who provoked the drama. He trotted the best of them all after breaking as the public’s second choice. In the mix for single-race exotics, add #5 Save The Goal (9-1) and Green Magic.

Friday, March 10

FEATURES

Yonkers, Race 5

#3 Kingsville (2-1) comes back from a fine win and the step-up is no negative. Similarly, #6 Pro Beach (5-1) returns off of a win in the same company and looks to have the style for the mile. Thirdly, #1 Eddard Hanover (5-1) could whip the speed late if there’s dueling and smash the cheap exotics.

Saturday, March 11

POWER PLAYS

Pocono Downs, Race 7

Our trio of contenders could provide a fine exotic-bets result when including #4 Virgin Storm (6-1). A trainer change may mean nothing but it shows no signs of being negative. Last out was a promising trip that ended badly and deserves a pass, not a reduction in price tag for this ‘Game of Claims’ series leg.

#1 Mudville (9-2) cashes checks and may be a popular claim.

#5 Stellar BB (3-1) has speed that holds on for some money, hitting the board for exotics. All in all, leaving #2 Caviart Max (5-2) out of the top three gets you good cash for a seven-horse field.
