Stakes on Tap

USS Indianapolis Memorial ($105K) 3fP: The three fillies last seen in Breeders Crown (BC) finals have the edge here. Strong Poison, 4-1 in the BC elim and fifth in the final, is one. Another is Beach Cowgirl, fourth in the final at 41-1; and 106-1 Mcseaside, the rank outsider in the final. But from that field to this is a mighty drop that demands class action, so to speak.

Crossroads Of America ($115K) 3fT: The BC class angle applies here, too. Rose Run Yolanda finished fourth in the soph-filly trot final at 29-1 and before that a closer third to Bond in the elim. It should be an easy win here. Picaboo Lady could be a good exotic partner.

The Monument Circle ($190K) 3cP: More BC entries to include in any bets are among those destroyed by Confederate in the soph-colt final. Stockade Seelster, second to the conqueror in the final is the most likely to break the beam first. In no particular order to be the most competitive next are Admiral Hill, Coach Stefanos, and Command. The latter is a stablemate of the conqueror. Watch out.

The Carl Erskine ($205K) 3cT: Is there any stopping Tactical Approach? The problem is he won’t be 2-1 in this field. That was a gift. If you care to take this race on then do so with exotics; key him with French Wine and Celebrity Bambino.

Kindergarten Final ($241K) 2fT
When Googoo Gaagaa progeny stay on stride, they wipe up. Here, Go For Gaagaa No is well equipped to wipe up for Per Engblom. It will be a price worth backing considering the crowd is bound to bet others.

Kindergarten Final ($267K) 2cT
A strong outsider here is Marcus Melander’s Thinker Monkey. With only a single win and a lot of frosh experience, this son of Chapter Seven has a six-digit bankroll, second only to Karl, who leaves from post 10 after winning a BC final and will offer much less to win.

Kindergarten Final ($205K) 2fP
Sarasota Hanover looks in a fine spot to take this trophy. A cover trip cannot hurt, but she may be stronger than usual for the bigger bucks on Linda Toscano turf.

Kindergarten Final ($267K) 2cP
Lou Vuitton has raced with tougher than these, earned a bunch doing so and is a son of the hot sire Sweet Lou. Trainer Ron Burke’s entry may offer a shiny coin for a win here.

H2W LIST

Horses to watch (H2W) are strong contenders evaluated from overnight-race charts (including qualifiers), replays and trainers’ current win percentages. Each horse appears in two consecutive lists if it does not win on its first listing.

H2W horses are suggested for win, place, show (across the board) wagering and to be included in exotic combinations.

Exactas listed in H2W results reflect an H2W horse finishing second to a race favorite or if the first two finishers were on the list, when an asterisk appears for cold exactas. The note “ok” determines prices are correct when a show price exceeds the place price or all three prices are identical.

Some results reflect horses racing after preview blog posts and appear the following week. As well, some horses will not appear a second time when their first time is followed by a race at a non-parimutuel fair. They will get a second time on the list when returning to a betting race.
