Harness Racing has new Kentucky home in Oak Grove
A new pari-mutuel harness racing track opens for business on Friday, October 18 in Kentucky. The Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel’s harness raceway will launch its first Standardbred meet, with live racing on Fridays and Saturdays through November 19, and TwinSpires.com will serve as the primary ADW wagering platform.
First post is 2:05 p.m. (CT) during October, with a 1:05 p.m. post time in November.
Track administration expects race purses to reach a total of $50,000 per program, with average purses up to $5,000 per race.
Veteran standardbred horsemen will be participating at Oak Grove. Many of them are shipping in their tack from popular harness raceway circuits around North America.
Some of the sport’s veteran harness racing drivers who will be steering fast trotters and pacers regularly at Oak Grove include Roger Cullipher, Deshawn Minor, Kyle Wilfong and Tom Tetrick.
Some familiar trainers in the sport, such as Gerald Longo, Gary Campbell and Jeff Nisonger, will be competing through the meet.
Oak Grove, developed in concert with Churchill Downs and Keeneland, hosts bettors live for each racing program and streaming of the races will be available to TwinSpires.com customers.
On-track attendance parking and admission is free. Gates open at noon.
To celebrate both the opening of Oak Grove and upcoming Breeders' Crown, TwinSpires will offer players the chance to benefit playing both events!
Watch for an exclusive promotion to opt-in, when every $50 bet at Oak Grove this weekend gets you a $5 Free bet (up to $25) in the Breeders' Crown at Woodbine Mohawk next weekend.
