Harness Racing: Hoosier Park plays for June 2

(Each week, Cotolo employs money-management tactics to build wagers that focus on plump profits.)

For the program on June 2 at Hoosier Park, we suggest some horses for selected plays that may fit in any type of wager.

Race 1

Bar Hopping filly #7 Willamette fired early to win a duel for the top but tired in the stretch to finish fifth. Leaving from post 8 then, she moves up a spot here but with a cover trip or chasing a duel herself she could win this and be worth it at the morning line (ML) of 6-1.

The crowd will expect a big mile from #9 Worth Your While. The Melissa Essig-trained gelding has done well in his recent pair at Hoosier, both from the outside.

Race 3

Some gait issues haunt #8 Sausage Fingers but his clean win on April 28 displayed his proper gait and he qualified very well on May 25 off of two breaks. Could he behave in this mile? Sure. There is no predicting when a standardbred gets a case of the gallops and here the Shadyshark Hanover sophomore would pay well enough to take the chance he makes a smooth go of it.

Outsider #4 Stellar Feller has faced better while racing poorly but is to be given a second look at this level in only his fourth 2021 start. He is a son of Indiana super sire Always A Virgin and at any given time may deliver a familiar family success.

Race 5

We do not understand an 8-1 ML for #3 Parklane Terror but we will take anywhere near it for this Western Terror sophomore making his fifth appearance of the season. He earned a win and stepped up brightly, involved with good intentions last time and ready to roar without stepping down in class.

Early on or late in the stretch, #7 Always A Gentleman will take on all challenges to make a strong impression if not win it all.

Race 9

Aside from the obvious ML contenders is #6 Collettes with a good upset chance. Coming off a swell qualifier, Tom Tetrick’s mare takes on her first 2021 assignment. She was well meant on Oct. 17 in higher company and raced better than her odds in two starts before that. She is going to find some backers but not enough to be an outsider that promises a fine payoff.

Potentially dangerous also is #2 Bluebird Rocky, whose May 12 race was a gallop and should be tossed. He should be measured by the May 5 race at this level here he did well at 7-2. Both of these rate highly against the ML favorites.

Race 12

Qualifying at Hoosier after shipping from battling tougher stuff at the Meadows, #1 Real Diamonds K should thoroughly enjoy one less turn and show some speed that has kept her hitting the board six of nine times already this season. She may stalk whichever foe fires to take the lead and save ground only to shake loose in the long stretch and devour this group.

Florida-shipper #6 Fist Fighter will settle into the new atmosphere and perhaps with a strong start. He looks cheap merely because Pompano purses offered little for groups like this and that is the type he raced well against. Do not dismiss him here.
