(Each week, Cotolo employs money-management tactics to build wagers that focus on plump profits.)

For the program on Sept. 15 at Hoosier Park

We suggest some horses for selected plays that may fit in any type of wager.

Race 1

Back from the fairs, #3 Retha Babe has a decent history this season in this class and would be a worthy bet at her morning line (ML) of 8-1.

A break in her race at Scioto caused #8 TNT Lady to leave the scene and wander home at around 6-1, but at home at Hoosier she was gearing into a wining race at this level.

Race 2

A Daily Double with a sharp price can be completed by #2 Luv Lorelei. She is a bet-back proposition and a good one. She is always racing better than her odds and from the looks of the ML, she will do so here again, but this time it should be a cashing experience for her backers.

Robert Taylor’s #8 Jusmakinyalook deserves a look and should be considered strongly in this statebred contest. The public had to bet strongly last time, making her 5-1 after she totally raced with strength finishing fourth at 30-1. Her ML of 6-1 could be a steal.

Race 7

Trainer Kevin Slabaugh is looking to send his first winner to post this season and his prospect, #4 Sunshine Queen, is a definite candidate. She was good last week and supported at 3-1, which was noteworthy for a mare coming from the fairs after a less-than-impressive qualifier. The step up in claiming price is another positive sign. She’s bound to bring in some bucks anywhere she finishes on the board.

Outsider #2 Overflow did not race at two, and at three, the Always A Virgin colt showed spunky speed from the 8-hole in his first race at Hoosier. The crowd will dismiss him, which is another good reason to put him in the mix.

Race 12

Most fair-competing horses must improve when hitting the pari-mutuels tracks. The other side of that fact is that some horses that have been doing well at the fairs do better against better horses at first crack. Using that theory, #4 Morning Sunrise is a smart bettor’s opportunity. Well bred by Rockin Amadeus, Dan O’Mara’s filly has been exceptional at the Ohio fairs and may show up on “Jug” week for top purses. However, here she is with a great record, and a good prep, and her chances are far better than her 8-1 ML.

Inexperienced #2 Virginity Rocks is not a proven loser and was reasonably supported while responding well at Scioto in her second race.

Race 14

Let’s take another shot at the Hoosier High 5 (20-cent minimum). We offer five finishers in post position order for your consideration in any ticket you concoct. The only other time we did this at Hoosier we had four of the five we posted, including a $35 winner, and we were a breath away from cashing with our fifth horse.

#2 Highly Acclaimed – Getting better, the Trixton gal will be trouble for the rest.

#3 Spice-It-Up – Some sickness and road trouble excuses aside, she’s bound to be a factor late in this mixed group.

#4 Massive Girl – If she races back to Aug. 15, she’s in the thick of this.

#6 Fox Valley Britzka – In a good spot off of a ground-gaining effort.

#9 Secret Angel Girl – A good start with early lick puts her in a choice charging spot.
