Harness Racing Plays for Thursday, January 27

POWER PLAYS

Freehold - Races 3, 4, 5

These Freehold races make up a Pick 3 (P3) and deserve attention for wagering on any or all of the legs individually.

Race 3
This is also the first leg of a Pick 5. Outsider Three Rocks raced well and was gifted a finish third from fourth by judges due to interference at the start. She was good at this level and in that first race of the season she was 7-2. Here, the track handicapper has her at 8-1, which is fine with us. J Danae took a chance on the top last week and was disqualified in the same race as “Rocks” and may try to wire the field.

Race 4
Bad Day Black Rock and Fat Boy, bet-backs from last week’s P3, need consideration here along with Two Hip Dip. That one had a tough trip last out and is more of a contender than the program lists at 6-1.

Race 5
Outsider Sluggem N raced a long mile using two moves in his last and though he ended seventh he was still within striking distance. He was well supported and just missed two back. Risky Buddy was strong from the 8 hole but came up short. He is better placed to go faster and be in the mix here.

Yonkers - Races 4, 8

Race 4
We’ll use Sweet Sally Sue from last week’s H2W entry in this race. She comes into this as a beaten favorite, finishing fourth from an outside route, on Dec. 16. If also-eligible Dbldelitebrigade draws in he will serve up some speed that can change the course of this mile.

Race 8
Alexa Skye lost her first 2022 affair to the pacer leaving on her right, Heavens Showgirl A, who was sucked along behind her and full of pace when she came off the wood. Alexa Skye needed that race and will be all out to begin a strong 2022 campaign of wins.

Harness Racing Plays for Friday, January 28

FEATURES

Hawthorne - Races 2, 10

Race 2
In a qualifier six days before this race, Britney Dillon’s The Thunder Rolls was a scorching winner wire to wire by 8 lengths at Hawthorne. Confident, Dillon got The Thunder Rolls a spot in the evening’s Open against five of Chicago’s class pacers—including the super Fox Valley Gemini.

Race 10
Outsider Rollinwitdaponyzzz won’t get much support for a few reasons that are obvious in his recent history. However, the crowd won’t take into consideration that his trainer, John Filomeno is a top percentage-winner and that is why his horses pay well. Shock Wave steps up a bit off a place finish and could hit the board here.

Harness Racing Plays for Saturday, January 29

POWER PLAYS

Meadowlands - Races 5, 6, 7

Here’s a Pick 3 we want to slam, as well as a trio of three playable races in all exotic offerings.

Race 5
Stepping down, Edwin Quevedo’s oddly named Casino Bags Onso, finds a good spot to make his recent pair of races smooth enough to win. Also spotted well in class not post is Thespywholovedme (trivia—the James Bond novel title is the only Bond book written from the perspective of a character). The 10 post may not matter in the mile.

Race 6
A simple single will suffice for price and purpose. Dropping a 95k tag to 75k, where he last won, Revolver N also resigns from three-straight 8-hole starts—but won the first of those in a 75k claimer, as is this race.

Race 7
In this claiming handicap post 10 launches Mindtrip, the greatest threat and in this case we agree even though he was a beaten favorite in this class last week from the same post. Also from the outside (post 8), Allgonowhoa was claimed last week and roughed out a finish fifth after a fiery early duel. He’ll be up there late. Finally, most dangerous to their left is Cool Blues Man. Toss out his Freehold jog and value more what he did at the M-lands three back.
