About Balmoral Park
Balmoral Park began as Lincoln Fields, which opened in 1926 for Thoroughbred racing and was the site of Triple Crown winner Whirlaway’s debut race. The track was changed to Balmoral Park in 1955, and harness racing began in 1967. Thoroughbred racing at Balmoral was last held in 1986 following a fire at Arlington Park, and it has been designated as a Standardbred track exclusively since 1991. In 1995, the 5/8 mile oval was renovated into a one mile track.
