Harness Weekly Update: 46% across-the-board hits

The TwinSpires Harness Blog Weekly Update covers our successes and failures from selected features and the H2W (horses-to-watch list). H2W horses through the following Monday appear in the next Update’s results.

Thursday, May 4

Our Mohawk Miles trio included two beaten favorites: Nimah Franco N (sixth) and Warrawee Yang (fourth). Both were beaten by the public second choices. The third contender, Lyons Addiction (46-1), finished seventh to the favorite.

At Hoosier we once again addressed the TwinSpires-bonus play for the Late Pick 4. One winner, a favorite, was Pure Cotton ($2.20, $2.10, $2.40 OK) in leg three.

In leg one, VH Princess Brea ($2.60, $2.10) finished second, and Marla's Got Legs (7-1) was fourth. In leg two, Layallyourloveonme was the favorite and finished sixth. In leg four, Rockinforreal ($4.40, $3.00) took second, Go Viral (24-1) was sixth, and Vel What A Star did not make the field from the also-eligible list.

Friday, May 5

Our Power Plays Philly Parlay was canceled when Wine N Dine Me scratched in Race 8. The first race in the scheme was uncooperative when the public’s third choice defeated Ignatius A (8-1), which finished fifth.

Saturday, May 6

Our contenders in the Meadowlands Pick 4 finished as follows:

Leg 1—Hammering Hank (3-1), fifth; Whole Lotta Lou (25-1), sixth
Leg 2—Annas Wish ($2.60, $2.10), second
Leg 3—Mostinterestingman (19-1), eighth

H2W LIST RESULTS

Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses are listed—a cold exacta). The note “OK” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).

NEWS & NOTES

The Tioga Downs season started May 6. Sunday's post time is 1 p.m. (ET) all summer. The regular Friday and Saturday programs start at 6:15 p.m. New York trotters and pacers are also competing in the state at Saratoga, Buffalo, Vernon, and Yonkers. We are monitoring all shippers on the H2W lists.

Stockade Seelster, yet to venture outside of his home track at Mohawk Park, is atop the first 2023 edition of Dave Little’s Road to the Meadowlands Pace top 10 poll. Ammo, Confederate, El Rey, Save America, Handlelikeaporsche, Combustion, Voukefalas, Fulton, and Ants Marching follow him. We are keeping an eye on their progress and will post our top 10 as the contenders race through the next two months.
