Harness Weekly Update: $129 exacta, double-digit winners

The TwinSpires Harness Blog Weekly Update covers our successes and failures from selected features, stakes, and the H2W (horses-to-watch list). H2W horses through the following Monday appear in the following week’s Update.

Thursday, Aug. 25

This week’s Mohawk Miles selections included a fourth by Cunning Connie (4-1) with the race favorite winning and Twin B Habanero (74-1) breaking stride while struggling into the stretch to finish 10th.

Friday, Aug. 26

At 48-1 in the Casual Breeze at Mohawk, we wound up fourth to the second choice with Pencils Down.

Saturday, Aug. 27

And now, Mohawk’s evening:

In both of the Eternal Camnation splits, we wound up with the favorites but won with Sylvia Hanover ($3.10, $2.40, $2.10) and lost with Savethelastdance, who finished fifth.

We also had the favorite in the Peaceful Way, but Heart On Fire finished sixth.

In the elims for the Canadian Pacing Derby, a 3-1 shot defeated our choice, second-placer Warrawee Vital ($5.90, $5.50). In the opener. In the other elim, This Is The Plan (28-1) was a dud, finishing seventh, but Desperate Man ($10.00, n/s) was a top-paying place bet.

Our choice in the Wellwood at Mohawk, French Wine (5-2), was flat, finishing fifth to the public’s second choice.

H2W LIST RESULTS

The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses form a cold exotic combo; most base prices are $2). The note “OK” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).
