Harness Weekly Update: $47 winner on Grand Circuit
The TwinSpires Harness Blog Weekly Update covers our successes and failures from selected features and the H2W (horses-to-watch list). H2W horses through the following Monday appear in the next Update’s results.
Thursday, June 1
Our three Mohawk Miles contenders produced a fine win price on Sweet Carrie T ($11.10, $4.80, $2.40). Sports Duchess (13-1) finished fourth for superfecta players, and Sister Twister (5-1) finished seventh-placed-sixth in traffic.
At Hoosier, our Power Plays & Parlay suffered a scratch for Dixie Dream in Race 2, though Maybemable ($4.80, $2.10) helped in exotic play. In the second rung, favorite Zappa tanked, finishing seventh, and Super Queen (14-1) hardly moved during the mile, finishing eighth.
Friday, June 2
The Meadowlands NJSS finals for soph trotters worked for us with the colts as we nailed Air Power ($9.60, $4.60, $3.20). The filly final was unkind, as I’m Amused (93-1) raced her odds, so to speak.
Saturday, June 3
Our Grand Circuit contenders performed as follows:
Graduates
Jiggy Jog S ($2.60, $2.10, $2.10) won; Slay ($2.20) was third.
Captain Cowboy ($47.40, $14.00, $7.30) won.
Pleaseletmeknow ($2.80) was third.
Somebeachsomewheres
Fulton ($2.30, $2.10) was second.
Ants Marching ($4.70) was third.
Stockade Seelster ($3.90, $2.20, $2.10) won.
H2W LIST RESULTS
The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses are listed—a cold exacta). The note “OK” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).
Please note that some results reflect horses racing after the blog posts (they appear the following week).
This week, there were 44 active H2W horses (a 14% win hit rate and a 39% ATB [across-the-board] hit). Horses with asterisks before their names were tweets @FrankCotolo. Follow for late choices.

NEWS & NOTES
This year's edition of the C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup goes to post on Saturday, June 17, at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Eliminations are on June 10. At the end of April, top contenders included Confederate, going his soph season in the Bret Pelling barn; Stockade Seelster; Fulton; Ammo; and Save America. The soph colts racing may also be available for the next big glamour-boy pacing event, The Meadowlands Pace.
It is just about a month until The Meadowlands Pace. Here, as of June 5, are our top five contenders; though in order, odds will ultimately define our win wager. Keep watching here for updates.
- Ammo
- Fulton
- Stockade Seelster
- Save America
- Confederate
And what about the Hambletonian prospects? Here are some of the soph-trotters we’re tracing (not in order of preference) along the trail for the August classic: Bond, Air Power, Oh Well, and Kilmister. It is no fluke that three of those four are trained by Marcus Melander, whose trotting prowess has been displayed in the past few Hambos.
